At Profile, our philosophy is simple: College football programs set the market for talent, and the level of recruitment for each individual prospect can be quantified.
All ratings and rankings you see on Profile are automatically derived from the strength of the college football programs themselves. To begin, each program is scored in three categories. Those categories are on-field performance, historic NFL talent production, and recruiting selectivity*. Next, those categories are combined into a composite program strength rating that closely mirrors the 0-100 scale applied to recruits. These composite program ratings reflect the confidence we can place on the level of ability of a recruit when they receive an offer from a program. As recruits receive offers and accumulate more over time, our confidence in their level of ability increases β and we can begin to quantify and order recruits by their grades and rankings.
We believe our grading methods produce an accurate representation of the national recruiting landscape, as it rewards the recruits who are most valued by college football programs themselves. We trust the evaluations of the coaching and personnel staffs around the country as they operate in a competitive environment that drives strategic decisions on prospective recruits.
The data you see on Profile is best in industry. 99% of Division 1 offers, 99% of Division 1 recruits. Kept up-to-date in near real-time. All data is gathered from public sources and is managed by Profile.
*Selectivity β the historic ratio of commits taken to offers extended in each recruiting class from a program.

A score (0β100) representing the overall talent of a recruit. This grade is derived from offer strength values that have been calculated for each D1 program. A grade of approximately 97 and higher equates to 5 stars. ~90β97 equates to 4 stars. ~55β90 equates to 3 stars. ~0β55 equates to 2 stars.
Traditional recruiting stars expanded to more precise determinations. E.g. 3.7, 4.3.
A percentile score (0β1) of a recruit's total volume of recruitment (quantity Γ quality) out of all recruits with the same class year. The profile score can be thought of as how high-profile a prospect's recruitment has been.
A percentile score (0β1) of where each recruit's overall grade falls among all recruits with the same class year. A recruit's relative position in his class year.
A percentile score presented on a scale of 0β10, judging the athletic ability of a recruit relative to all other recruits of the same body type group and class year. Data sourced from public high school track and field results. A score of 5.0 is average.
A percentile score presented on a scale of 0β10, judging the statistical production of a recruit relative to all other recruits of the same position and class year. A score of 5.0 is average.
Mathematically projecting the appropriate level of recruitment for a particular recruit. Possibilities are Elite P4, High P4, P4, P4/G6, G6/FCS, FCS.
A mathematical attempt to assign percentage probabilities for a recruit to commit to each school they have an offer from. Derived from three main categories β strength of team, geographic proximity to a recruit, and selectivity of each school in the recruiting process. Schools are adjusted to match narrowed lists of top schools when applicable.
National Rank. A recruit's ranking among all recruits in the same class year.
Position Rank. A recruit's ranking among all recruits in the same position and class year.
State Rank. A recruit's ranking among all recruits in the same state and class year.

High school graduation class year.
Listed height.

Number of commits in a respective class.
The summation of each commit's overall grade in a team's class.
A percentage score (0β1) judging the impressiveness of each class relative to every other team in the country. Total overall points and average commit rating go into the calculation, with the top possible score being 1.
The average grade of all commits in a team's class.
The average profile score of all commits in a team's class.
The average number of stars of all commits in a team's class.
The average distance away from campus of all commits in a team's class.
Recruiting Boards show the top offered targets of a team by position. The ordering is achieved mathematically by balancing the desire for a team to maximize talent (overall grade) while also pursuing realistic targets (commit predict %). Recruits committed to a school only appear on that school's recruiting board.
A score assessing the amount of talent in a respective state or high school. The talent score rewards 5 points for a 5-star recruit, 4 for a 4-star recruit, etc.
